'"There's no place like home."'
-Kushim Hatt, the first human in space, upon returning from their seminal 108-minute flight.
Theia is the planet at the heart of the Erde System. It, and its various moons, make up the area that can support extant life. It is by far the largest celestial body in the system, and it is where a majority of the stories of 'Power of Ages' take place.
There are many celestial bodies in the Erde system, but there is only one planet. Theia is both the cradle of human civilisation, and the beating heart of the Bulwark. It is a warm, tropical planet, populated by massive fauna and billions of people. It is from here that the human race spread - first, across the continents, and then across the stars.
Humans notwithstanding, reptiles are the dominant evolutionary group on Theia. They can be found in the skies as pterosaurs, in the oceans as marine reptiles, and on the land as dinosaurs. Many land species have been tamed and corralled by humans; although, in the case of the largest sauropod and theropod species, only specialised or industrial operations have the resources needed to keep them in one place. Pterosaurs, too, have historically served various purposes in human society, although technological advancements have rendered them largely redundant.
Once, Theia was divided into untold numbers of political entities, ranging from isolated independent villages to mighty nation-states. Massive disparities existed in quality of life; the most fortunate lived lives of untold luxury, while the least fortunate had no choice but to eke out livings with archaic technology and no wider services in place to support them.
When The Incursion began, Theia was struck first and hardest. The planet's massive population, scattered and largely underdeveloped, had no hope of standing against the isfet. Within a decade, an estimated three billion people had been killed. Civilisations were scattered, and many of the planet’s regions - such as the Crescent Coast, and southern tip of Galvlo'i - were so thoroughly destroyed that they remain uninhabitable to this day.
The tide of destruction was halted by the formation of the Bulwark. Dedicated to fighting the isfet above all else, they rallied the disparate nations of Theia and united them underneath its banner. Slowly but surely, they turned the tide and forced the isfet away from the centres of civilisation. Today, almost a century later, much of the planet has been cleared of isfet, and approved for human habitation (and, in some cases, resettlement). However, it is a scant few locations have been deemed truly safe. It is only the continued efforts of the Bulwark that maintain continuity of civilisation on this planet - and, indeed, within the whole system.
-Kiran Steele, Bulwark Historian
